SUSTAINABILITY & CSR
Our company midcenturydesign puts special emphasis on sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. For us, sustainable product design is part of our cultural identity. Our motto is „Go Green – Buy Vintage Design Classics“, especially regarding furnishing your own home. After all, functional and aesthetical quality, and a design which is easy-to-repair, reusable and durable are characteristic for furniture of the midcentury design era. As a responsible company, we restore our furniture using natural resources such as linseed oil and beeswax to bring them to new life. Apart from saving resources, we also follow the „cradle to cradle“ principle, which ensures a continuous and closed cycle of the used material wherever possible. On the one hand this includes the biological cycle, in which all used materials are healthy and compostable, so that at the end they form the basis of new biological growth. On the other hand the principle extends to materials such as metal or plastic, which are primary commodities and therefore limited. Hence these resources need to be reused wherever possible. Our claim is to respect the „cradle to cradle“ principles regarding both groups of materials e.g. in our choice of materials like fabrics etc. In the end there is only one world and we have the responsibility to save it for us and for following generations. As a member of „UnternehmensGrün – Bundesverband der grünen Wirtschaft e.V.“ it is of great importance for us to work ecologically and to respect our social responsibility. The aim of this organisation is to stimulate environmental protection, especially by supporting companies following ecological and social principles. In particular, this is realized by: • Commiting to consistently and thoroughly implement ecological concepts and strategies in companies and society • Supporting social innovations in businesses and in society • Supporting and preserving regional business structures • Setting impulses to improve the regulatory conditions • Editing and publishing own sustainable concepts
